Develop Psychic Awareness
Each of us are born with intuitive ability. Some people have the natural instinct to be able to maintain a high level of spiritual sensitivity throughout their life… but with the majority, this gift fades away from conscious awareness at an early age.

Apart from the natural attributes which we inherit, the content of the human mind is a product of the environment that we have lived, played, and worked in from birth to the present day. This includes:

  • Early upbringing
  • Parents attitudes
  • Education system
  • Friends
  • Bureaucracy
Garbage in
Each of the above factors come with certain rules and social attitudes that are absorbed into the vast labyrinths of our unconscious minds. You can only imagine how much nonessential information we have accumulated and stored in our memory banks over the years.

There's also a lot of good stuff stashed away in there, but… most of it is useless, and detrimental to our mental wellbeing. This internal waste material builds a wall in our minds that slows down the penetration of good positive thoughts. The only way we can get these good thoughts into our mental storage systems, and have them remain, is to replace the wall of negativity with a wall of positivity.

Garbage out
Before we even begin to increase our psychic awareness, we need to dump the negative garbage, and replace it with good quality thoughts. This is easier said than done, as it needs to be approached brick by brick, or one step at a time.

There are a few ways this can be done. Some people are capable of achieving this on their own, and others need help from reliable persons who have experienced these changes themselves. Here are some methods of improving our mental processes. These are in no particular order of importance:

  • Written Courses
  • Seminars
  • Meditation Evenings
  • Personal Meditation
  • Yoga
  • Tai Chi
  • Creative Visualization
We'll take a look at each of these items in turn, and see how they can enhance our psychic skills.

Hypnosis
There are a lot misconceptions about hypnosis - and regarding hypnotherapy in general -  In fact, it is the most natural of all the healing modalities. It is not evil, neither is it the work of Satan.

Ask around, a practitioner who has studied Ericksonian techniques is (IMO) well worth considering. He will have an agreeable rapport with his client, and build an intimate relationship with his client's unconscious mind.

We're not talking about the theatrical stage hypnotist here, but the trained professional hypnotherapist. He will work with your own belief system, and help you exchange past negative programs for positive input, and help you become a more relaxed individual, and a much clearer thinker.

Hypnosis is not a magic panacea and won't help you change with just one session. You will require several consultations. A good hypnosis practitioner will teach you the skills of self hypnosis, so that you will be able to continue your change at your own pace, in your own time and environment.

Books and written courses
To learn to improve psychic awareness with written material, including web site based material, such as this site, one needs to have a determined and persevering nature. No recommendations are given here - but there are a lot of excellent books available out there. It's a matter of scanning through copies at your local bookshop or library… until you find something that suits you.

Seminars
Mingling with like minded people at lectures and seminars can be a great help. Don't believe everything you're told - go with your instincts - If you find your head in the clouds… make sure your feet are firmly on the ground. Attending your first psychic development  seminar may be what you need to start your psychic awakening.

Be cautious of the charges of these meetings, if any, if they seem to be very expensive - be wary.

Meditation evenings
There are many different types of meditation - here are just a few:
Biblical
Buddhist
Transcendental
Spiritual
Many Spiritual organizations focus on the psychic aspect of life, and this is prevalent within their meditation.

Your success at achieving a meaningful meditative state is entirely dependant on the expertise of the person conducting the class, and your own ability to relax and concentrate.

Being able to enter a satisfactory state of meditation becomes easier the more often you attend these meetings. Ask around, go along to a few different evenings with a friend, and choose one that you feel comfortable with.

Yoga
A simple definition of yoga is: "An ancient art based on a harmonizing system of development for the body, mind, and spirit. The continued practice of yoga will lead you to a sense of peace and well-being, and also a feeling of being at one with their environment."

Tai Chi
"A series of gentle movements and simple postures designed to improve coordination, relieve stress, promote overall well-being and strengthen the immune system. A focus is placed upon directing "chi" or energy, through the body, mind, and spirit."

A wonderful technique of using mind and imagination to attain goals. We tend to put limits on our ability to achieve - Creative Visualization helps to cross those boundaries and leads us to a fulfilling and successful outcome.
